Honored to attend last week’s Romania-U.S. Economic Forum in Washington, D.C.! The forum highlighted the immense potential of U.S.-Romania economic relations, focusing on energy cooperation and Ukraine’s reconstruction. 🇺🇸🇷🇴
Celebrating 20 years of Romania’s NATO membership, the event emphasized progress in bilateral relations and Euro-Atlantic security, particularly in the Black Sea region. This dialogue sets the stage for the 9th session of the Romania-U.S. Strategic Dialogue, concentrating on security, defense, economic exchanges, energy security, and Romania’s Visa Waiver Program. 🛡️⚡🤝
Attended the 3rd U.S.-Romania Economic Summit hosted by AmCham Romania, featuring Romanian Cabinet Ministers, U.S. Administration representatives, and American business leaders. We discussed why Romania is an ideal destination for American investment in energy, healthcare, banking, finance, agriculture, infrastructure, and IT&C.
Romania is not just a prime investment destination due to its economic growth, stable democracy, and EU and NATO membership, but also a gateway to Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts, playing a significant role in regional security and humanitarian initiatives.
Key highlights:
- Largest IBM center in the region with a highly skilled workforce.
- 6th largest recipient of the post-COVID EU recovery package, heavily invested in digitalization.
- US-Ro trade balance: $7.2 billion.
- Significant investments in energy security and infrastructure, including 2 billion Euros for electricity and gas grid reinforcement.
- Friendly regulatory system on renewables and substantial state aid for offshore investment.
- Highly educated workforce with strong IT expertise and multilingual capabilities.
Romania continues to be a significant player in new technologies, clean energy, and transport infrastructure, supporting energy security and regional economic growth.
I fully support CMO UiPath Bobby Patrick’s idea for reinstating a direct flight from Washington, DC, to Bucharest. ✈️
