Black Sea Oil & Gas SA, in collaboration with shareholders The Carlyle Group and the EBRD, is introducing BSOG Energy SRL, a pioneering company dedicated to biogas development throughout Romania. With its headquarters in Bucharest, BSOG Energy will spearhead the establishment of biogas plants nationwide, each boasting a minimum capacity of 15 MW. This initiative is poised to be a game-changer in Europe’s energy transition and significantly bolster Romania’s renewable energy sector.

Representatives of Carlyle Group, the primary shareholder of BSOG, held a strategic meeting with Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu at the Victoria Palace yesterday. The discussions revolved around Carlyle’s strategic energy investments in Romania, particularly in biogas production, which leverages the country’s robust agricultural sector. This meeting underscores the significant potential of these investments to transform Romania’s energy landscape.

In 2022, BSOG and its partners began gas production from the Midia Natural Gas Development Project, introducing the first gas into the National Transmission System. PM Ciolacu emphasized Romania’s strategy to enhance energy independence, diversify resources, and meet greenhouse gas emission reduction targets.

“Romania has immense potential in this crucial sector. Our goal is to responsibly harness this potential, support energy resource diversification, and transition sustainably to green energy,” said PM Ciolacu.

Congratulations to BSOG, Carlyle, and EBRD on these significant steps towards a sustainable future! 🌱
